HF200 – back to some video story’s
about 4 years ago whilst running to the station to catch the train my bag zipper opened [or i hadn't closed it properly] and i suddenly heard a loud THUD. my sony DCRPC-110E decided to abandon ship, or more bag, and slam into the footpath. i almost cried at the time. it was my pride and joy. i loved that camcorder so much.
fast forward to last week and i eventually had the funds to replace it. it was a pretty big decision and it took a long time to decide on what was going to fulfill my true needs. after much research i had my heart set on a HF200 canon. there was a couple of contributing factors but the main one was it was super light weight, captured in Full HD 1080 and had some great reviews. not to mention the price was pretty much right.
i have had the camera now for about 1.5 weeks and have not really had a lot of time to experiment with it. another reason i wanted one was also to capture the boys as they grew up. this weekend was their final soccer games for the season and luckily i had enough time to capture lachlans team play and even more luck was the fact aidan played on his team as well for the match.
it was a really hard day trying to balance two children [k was working] so i pretty missed all of aidans game. here is the first caputre/edit/experiment with the new TOY. a couple of learnings
1. lens hood is great but doesn’t work with a UV filter placed on the end – hence the black corners when at full wide angle
2. IAF – some crappy feature that is just shit when it comes to focusing. not happy with it at all
3. one must have final cut express – or equiv – on the mac to edit the footage as it is in a new format – AVCHD
4. i have to just make a decision and get a 35mm DOF adapter asap
the bears 2009
