Where were we?
The last few weeks have seen a very large gap appear in what had been a floorless training program. I’m still at a loss as to where the time has gone but I know the impact will be sustantial in the hunt for a sub 5 hour doctor.
This week with the sad departure of cadel from the yellow jersey and a higher finish position should really help me to get back on track again.
With a rest week followed by a week that was going to only accomodate two rides – that would have still found me completing the 9 hour target – when I set out on the second 7 cols ride solo I only managed a return trip to Old Bathurst. I felt so ill on the return ride I almost had to call in the team car (wifey and kids) to pick me up.
On the good side though, the order arrived from CRC which brought me the final pieces to set carbo up UST – along with cadence and of course the trainer.
I have already completed one full hour training session on it and found it to be reasonably quiet but more encouraging – pretty enjoyable. With this set up it means I can get in some very focussed intervals on what would normally be a non-training day due to time restraints.
I’m back on it again tonight and have been looking forward to it all day. I’m just really pleased I can put such a focused session in so easily.
The focus now will be to not be up every night watching the tour and to get right back on track with training and even ramp it up slight with the trainer
