BMC cowbell action

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

like always karen worked on sunday so i couldn’t race at yellomundee in the 8hr BMC working week series. instead i took the boys down to both show them a MTB race as well as support jason  who was racing solo. as per usual jason did the amazing performance i have come to expect from him. 18th overall and 2nd in the veterans class.

to help encourage him i organised the boys to bring down a cowbell. it was awesome. i would say it put a smile on around 99.9% of the riders face as they rode by. they all encouraged the boys to ring the bell and bothered to thank them. the boys were ecstatic. they thought it was the best. more images from the day are here

and speaking of the 8hr race, i have organised a team of 3 for the next round, to be held at stromlo in canberra on the 24th of august. so pumped. so i have to get some kms under the seat, which meant riding in today from home. was a hard ride for some reason, probably due to the pains from playing soccer last wednesday and not really getting out on the bike on the weekend at all.

i still made the journey in 3 hrs but the raleigh is pretty much kaput now. the front wheel has decided to spin it self out of true, and the LBS guy who trued it up did make it clear to me the wheel was pretty much shot. time to buy a new front wheel, but i am not happy because it will mean no more rides to work for a while.
