lots of no.s equals lots of fun as the story goes222 = amount of KM’s in the saddle last week
58:14.5 = 32 [30 - 39 age category] = 83(ish) overall | this is the true time it to me to complete the woodford to glenbrook. on about the 4th-ish full corner i once again got a flat on the back this time. pressure should have been fine, but obviously wasn’t. i was running around 38 in the back
1:10:00 = 83 [30 - 39 age category] = 211 overall | this is the actual time recorded as i crossed the line the woodford to glenbrook
what a great day . the weather was just amazing, as brad said “i am just over half way up the mountains in winter and wearing a tank top”- thats how nice the weather was. we started brad, fox and richie in the 30-39 category.
i, like always, just took off and had a plan of my usual go hard for the first 3-5km to split away from the pack and get some space, settle, climb well and finish hard. as far as i could work out i would have been in the top say 15 from our group when i turned in on the 4ish hard corner. it did have quiet a lot of larger rock, when the snake bite got the back tire again. i pretty much felt it go and i was really pissed… i mean REALLY PISSED. it took way to long for me to change it. the wheel came off fine, i got the tire off fine but i had some how knotted the chain in the process so i lost a lot of time.
once i was up and running again i was pretty annoyed and kinda went into why bother mode, then i realised my cyclometre would have stopped during the down time so i could actually really quiet reasonable on its final time. so i decide to not give up and go as best i could.
i still had to be quiet conservative because the back tire pressure was still very low as my porta-pump is shit and i just could get the pressure up high at all. all downhills were taken with extreme cation. another puncture and i would have gone postal!
i did overtake a lot of people, including justin whist going up the large hill before the downhill. i could tell he was hurting but he still had a smile on his face. i did climb well, but when i hit the bottom section - the wide fire-trail - i seriously hit top gear and hammered. i was averaging a really high top speed and maxxed out at a 56.9km, still mindful of the low pressure in the back tire [so low on the climb out of the NP after the race i had to pull over again and pump it up using jason pump this time]
all in all i did pretty well i think. i had been really on the saddle quiet a lot that week but the training is show… slowly
jason came 5th in his category which i just bananas. he is a lung on legs. the ride home did show how hard he had gone, he was really spent and we dropped him at one point.it also made me realise how much i really do need to upgrade my bike. like most races, my bike is worth less than most peoples front forks alone. i do think it shows and i reckon i could/would improve my time on a better bike.

actual time

max speed

about as ugly as one can get
